Twister Lamp

This interesting lamp concept comes from Swedish design firm Cate & Nelson, and is appropriately named the Mr Twister Lamp.  The lampshade is split into three parts, each of which can be swiveled around, effectively letting you choose where you want the light to spread.  When closed, small openings between the tree parts allow light to shine through.

Daniel Loves Objects Bookshelf

Daniel Loves Objects is the alias for a very talented industrial designer based in Singapore who created some rather unusual furniture pieces. The “Of War & Wits & Power” bookshelf depicts a golden army guarding their most prized possessions.

The author explains his inspiration:

“Driven by the recent crisis of certain countries who got very uptight over issues of being asked to disarm their missile test launched, their alarming action to remain hostile and persistent in their belief had stirred me to create this part of a furniture combination to depict their behavioral trait, a bookshelf with their golden army, strategically placed underneath, to uphold and to protect their ultimate plans,frozen in time for all to see”

Bottega Veneta Leather Desk

For those looking to make a serious statement with their office furniture, this leather desk from Bottega Veneta is anything but traditional, mostly on account of its $19,700 price tag.  The desk has three leather drawers on the front, each with soft leather handles, a set of stiff leather handles on the sides, matte gunmetal profiles, and comes in several shades of brown.

The Nothing OfficeNothing Office

With the help of Alrik Koundenburg and Joost van Bleiswikj, the Amsterdam based creative agency Nothing took the idea behind the company name (turning nothing into something) and applied it the design of company’s office.  Using a ‘no screw, no glue’ technique the office features walls, tables, shelves, beams, and even a staircase, all made from nothing but cardboard!
