Designed by Seattle based furniture company Urbancase, the Ledge is a clever wall-mounted furniture unit perfect for use as a writing desk, bookshelf, or media center.  Recently showcased at the annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), The Ledge features a discreet cord management system, drawer, a pullout shelf/work surface, and optional wall-hung shelving unit,and comes in either solid walnut ($1,500) or painted mdf ($1,300).

Nested inside a historic building in uptown Minneapolis that sat vacant for almost 20 years previously housing a print shop and a car dealership, you will now find the very cool offices of the advertising agency Mono.  In a neighborhood known for funky shops, eateries and apartments, the entrance to Mono’s office is easily distinguishable by its boldly colored blue door, which upon entering leads visitors down a path of finished concrete floors that still have flicks of color from the old print shop.

Twitter's New Office

The popular social networking site Twitter recently relocated its office headquarters to a space previously occupied by Bebo in San Francisco’s SoMa district.  The interior design of the new office was spearheaded by Sara Morishige Williams, whose goal was to “bring the outdoors in, while making the space playful yet useful and sustainable”.  The entire office is equipped with wifi connectivity, and has several fun features such as a dj booth, arcade, custom concrete conference tables, and of course plenty of playful bird depictions. Designed by François Mangeol and Sophie Françon of France, the Saint-Étienne office furniture collection is a project which experiments with flexible furniture assembly.

The designers explain:

It’s  a project of office furniture design. It proposes various complementary typologies of seats, and heights of work-top. In this particular case for the students of the new building of the school of Arts and design of Saint-étienne in the Cité du design (citedudesign.com); but it could be imagine in lots of design studios or actually in every studio looking for office furnitures as modular as possible.

Inspired by his enjoyment of letter writing, designer Michael Young created this charming writing desk which offers a modern reinterpretation of the traditional writing bureau.  Designed on behalf of Established & Sons, the writing desk stands on two distinctive A-frame legs and is constructed from wood conglomerate, steel tubing, and refined Corian.

The desk features an integrated drawer, an optional Corian inlay, and a concealed light hidden underneath the built-in hood which supports the specific function of the desk to provide a personal and private work space.
